The Rev’d S. Anders Litzell O.S.L. was born in Sollentuna, Sweden where he grew up with his parents and sister in Sollentuna Pentecostal Church.

Anders completed high school in a Science and Music double-programme and embarked on an unusual academic path. He graduated from Wheaton College, Illinois, with a B.A. cum laude in Biblical and Theological Studies, where he was introduced to the Anglican Communion at St Barnabas, Glen Ellyn. He also continued his musical development in the Concert Choir at Wheaton’s Conservatory of Music. Partly overlapping with his theology studies, he completed an M.Sc. in Computer and Systems Sciences at Stockholm University in Sweden. Upon graduation, he was appointed as National Director of Alpha Sweden and held various lay leadership roles in Kummelby Lutheran Church (Church of Sweden), Sollentuna.

In 2008 he married Kate, South African by birth, who was working at Holy Trinity Brompton (HTB) as Head of Alpha Latin America and the Caribbean (later Head of Church Planting after their first child was born). They set up their married home in London, while Anders also worked for HTB as Technology Project Delivery Manager. In 2010 Anders commenced training for ordained ministry in the Church of England at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, obtaining a Certificate in Theology for Ministry with Distinction and commenced a long-term PhD research project under the Archbishops’ Examination in Theology on the Rule of St Benedict and its relevance for contemporary church leadership. In the years since, Anders has been appointed an Associate of Ridley Hall.

Anders served his first post at St George’s Holborn, during which time he and Kate experienced their first call to Jesus’ Healing ministry, eventually establishing a regular Healing Room at Queen’s Square.

After three years at St George’s, Anders was appointed as the founding Prior of the Community of St Anselm at Lambeth Palace, establishing and leading an ecumenical community of young Christians, gathered from all around the world, in a shared life of prayer, study and service to the poor under the abbacy of the Archbishop of Canterbury, a work hailed by the late Queen Elizabeth II as a notable advance in co-operation across the great Christian traditions.

In 2018 Anders and Kate answered a call to ministry in the Diocese of Natal, South Africa, and the family relocated to Westville and St Elizabeth’s Church. In this time their work and experience in healing and reconciliation was further deepened and refined, and in 2019 they discerned God’s calling to join the International Order of St Luke the Physician, an international order of healing ministers.

Anders and Kate gradually began work to re-establish OSL’s ministry presence in South Africa and since 2021, they left parish ministry to whole-heartedly minister in healing and reconciliation, founding the ecumenical Community of Christ the Healer, and their work quickly found an international reach and impact.

The publishing of Healing Trust—and the subsequent study material—marks an exciting shift in sharing the gifts the Holy Spirit has given Anders, to the greater glory of God in Christ.
